Suggested Agenda for 1:1's
One on the most important part of networking is to have 1:1's with fellow networkers. I'm delighted that Penny Power of Ecademy has agreed to let me post a suggested (and ambitious) agenda designed for Ecademy Blackstars.
The motives of a 1-2-1 were considered to be:
- To be able to advocate one another
- To help one another’s visibility online and offline
- To demonstrate your own soft skills through listening, questioning and providing advice
- To be able to write a testimonial about them as a result of the knowledge gained about them
By following these guidelines, our intention is that you will be able to accelerate the learning about one another and accelerate the trust and understanding you have of each other.
Simplify their skills (people can talk too intellectually about their service offering, ask questions to drill down to a simple sound-bite)
Ask questions to discover the ‘soft-skills’ that they have that are unique to them, what enables them to be so good at what they do? Look for the emotion behind why they deliver their service
“If I asked you to write a Blog about your expertise, what would you write about?”
“In what way can I advocate you? Who would like your service? What shall I be listening out for?”
Feedback a testimonial that you would write about them, summarise what you have learnt about them.
With thanks to the following Ecademy BlackStars who created these guidelines at a 1-2-1 training course with Penny Power Nicole Bachmann, Andrew Horder, Ian Rogers, Christine Clacey, Sue Richardson.
Feel free to add your own thoughts...
