Default Any Anchoring Masters Out There?

Hi-

Is there anyone here on the board who considers themselves to be really good with anchoring? Is so, I'm very curious to hear how you you went from the point where you learned the basic principles to the point where you could apply it really effectively.

Sure the obvious answer is probably "practice," but then I'd ask "how specifically?"

I just got back from seeing Bandler in Mexico and I was noticing how much anchoring he was doing (and thining there was probably a lot that I wasn't noticing). thinkiing it might be time to strengthen those skills...

Also, has anyone seen Bandler himselfteaching this? Any special tips? Any video out there of him teaching it?

Thanks in advance.

Default Anchoring

Elicit (or at least notice) a useful state and do something consistent. A look, a sound, a touch, a gesture or just point....but not normally to yourself if its a less than useful state.

I learnt a lot from the delightfully titled advanced anchoring and other sneaky stuff by Tom Vizzini and Kimberly McFarland at Essentails skills. At the time it was a Video set but you can get it on DVD. They do workshops purely on anchoring.

And there is quite a lot in Richards Trainer trainer / Charisma enhancement,

Interested if anyones come accross anything else.

Default Thanks

Thanks for that Michael. Could you talk about the process you personally used between the time you learned the basic principles andthe itme you considered yourself to be proficient?

Default Process to learn anchoring

Hi Brian,

Its still a journey I'm on..

I think the first part was the realisation that while I understood anchoring 'theoretically' and could happily talk about it I couldn't really do it consciously.

(Which I think relates to a lot of NLP approaches - if you think about them too much - the best moment to do them has already gone.)

The next part was not bothering too much but observing other's states more carefully, so I began to develop a 'feel' as to others states ebbing and flowing. I then found I was able to create a a variety of triggers when people were in useful states. Either to anchor or help amplify them.

Sometimes replaying the trigger would help the other person re access their original state sometimes not.

I then developed a realisation that we're doing this in some ways automatically almost all of the time and the best approach was almost to give myself permission to do what I was doing naturally.

To develop this further I'm working on a number of simple, very repetitive, exercises to further develop anchoring skills when giving presentations. When to point towards me and when to point to other locations in the room etc. etc with the objective that it simply becomes a part of my automatic behaviour that I can use at will.

Default Anchoring and amplification

Actinally there was something else we played with/explored with on the latest practitioner accreditation module.

This can be done on its own or to emphasise a simple or stacking anchors routine.

As you touch someone you say the command 'feel' or make the suggestion 'feeling'.

You're (touch) feeling.....good
You (touch) feel....glowing
The energetic (touch) feeling

A bit hypnotic. When you say 'feel' your partner/client feels your touch (so what you say is true) they tend to happily be led to the state you then suggest.

Done well, with the right voice tone, really works.

Default More on anchoring

Anchoring and fingers and thumbs

Start wih one hand then the other!

(Normally you would wait until you were coming towards to the peak of a feeling and then anchor it. So this is slighly different.)

Touch your thumb and first finger and as you feel the touch let your imagination find a time you were in a really positive flow state. As you begin to access that state develop it by seeing what you saw, remembering what you heard and remembering your posture, breathing and movement. Explore any changes in that sensory experience which increases the intensity of the state. Move your thumb and first finger a bit so that you automatically associate the feelings of that movement with the state.

Repeat until you have anchored a useful state to each finger and thumb for both hands. Choose a wide variety of memories / states. Maybe you were totally relaxed, maybe exceptionally creative, maybe you had just won a race or were in total harmony with someone, maybe you had just tasted something really special. Maybe you found a state where your imagination just flowed.....

Then randomly touch a finger and thumb, if a memory and state immediatly come back strengthen it by going into the memory, if not simply find another useful state and anchor it in the same way.

You'll find yourelf both anchoring useful states and the ability to access useful states.
